This Weekend in Colorado Springs (11/25 - 11/27)

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

By Tony Fleming-Brum - November 25, 2016

It’s looking like a bit of a chilly weekend here in Colorado Springs for Thanksgiving, but with clear skies all day on Saturday it should still be nice around town!

Starting the weekend with Black Friday (11/25), the Pike’s Peak Center will be hosting the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and the Oklahoma City Ballet in their production of The Nutcracker! Tchaikovsky’s iconic holiday performance, this is sure to be a wonderful show in an amazing venue!

Saturday morning (11/26) will be a great opportunity to stretch your legs and enjoy some holiday art at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center. The Center will be celebrating the “Golden Age” of animation and the 50th anniversary of the animated special “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. They are proud to present one of the most significant collections of original hand-drawn Grinch animation cels and related artworks in America, on loan from private collectors, Bill Heeter and Kristi Correa.
Saturday evening Christmas starts early in Manitou Springs, as they host the region’s Christmas Kickoff Event! With a parade of floats, marching bands, and of course, Santa Claus, this inaugural parade is sure to get you in the holiday spirit!

Sunday (11/27) is looking to be a chilly, overcast morning, so why not spend it inside? For the first time in the history of the Broadmoor Galleries, they will be offering special incentirves on select fine art over Black Friday weekend! Visit them to explore a huge selection of original fine art – from sculptures to paintings – the perfect unique gift idea for those hard-to-shop-for people on your list.
If you’d prefer a more laid-back Sunday afternoon, check out the Gold Room’s Football Sunday, where they’ll have every game playing on their giant wall of TV’s! With $11.99 all-you-can-eat wings and high def. football all afternoon, you can’t ask for a more relaxing way to bring this Thanksgiving weekend to a close!
