This Weekend in Colorado Springs (10/14-10/16)

Fall Weekend Fun

By Tony Fleming-Brum - October 13, 2016

You’re in luck if you’re travelling to Colorado Springs in the next few days, as it seems our unusually sunny start to the Fall is going to hold up for the weekend! For a fun start to the weekend, the Space Foundation will be presenting this month’s Space After Dark event (10/13). Dress up as your favorite mad scientist this week and join fellow space enthusiasts with beer, snacks, and fun mad science experiments that you shouldn’t try at home!

Saturday (10/14) is also shaping up to be an exciting day here in town, with the annual Japanese Cultural Festival and Bazaar being presented by the Japan-America Society of Southern Colorado. The Bazaar will be featuring a variety of original Japanese wares and traditional foods for sale, as well as demos of Japanese instruments and martial arts throughout the day! After a day out on the town, what better way to wind down the Saturday evening than taking in the smooth sounds of Chris Smithers, a truly American blend of Folk and Blues. He will be presented by Rock Mountain Highway at The Gold Room, a 1933 art deco building which has been retrofitted as a state-of-the-art live performance hall.

Sunday (10/15) here in the Springs is slated to be the clearest day of the weekend, and with a high of 81°, should be a perfect day to visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo! As America’s only mountain zoo, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is uniquely suited to showcase the Rocky Mountain wildlife in its natural habitat. Treat yourself to engaging and memorable encounters with mountain lions, grizzly bears, lynx, and bald eagles in this one of a kind exhibit.
Of course I would be remiss if I were to leave out Sunday night at the Broadmoor World Arena, where the WWE will be presenting an adrenaline filled evening of live wrestling championships. This will be your chance to see Seth Rollins vs. Universal Champion Kevin Owns, Roman Reigns vs. Rusev w/ Lana, plus many more WWE favorites in the premier entertainment and sports venue in the Pikes Peak Region!

And as always, don’t forget about Front Range Shuttle, from cozy SUV’s to 25 passenger tour buses, we have your airport transportation needs covered!
