Good Morning Colorado Springs, and welcome once again to this week’s installment of the Front Range Shuttle weekly events blog! Our week-long marathon of afternoon showers seems to have come to a close, and the sun is starting to shine quite a bit brighter. With highs in the mid-to-high 80s all week, and mostly clear skies all the way through Sunday, it’ll be a great week to start working on your tan for the summer!
Starting our week off with Monday (6/12), we’ll be heading over to the Garden of the Gods Nature Center, where they’ll be hosting the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society for an evening Star Party! The Colorado Springs Astronomical Society will be there with telescopes, helping to educate guests about the night sky. All ages welcome. The event will be held in the parking lot at the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center. Hope to see you here for this fun, FREE family event!
After an evening of stargazing, we’ll spend our Tuesday (6/13) with some excellent music at The Black Sheep, where they’ll be hosting The Delta Saints! Among rock ‘n’ roll’s many mistresses and muses, California remains one of the most enigmatic, enduring, and enchanting. The Golden State’s allure can notably be attributed to the intoxicating melodic excess of the Eagles’ “Hotel California” and the finger-picked pensiveness of Led Zeppelin’s “Going To California,” to name a few. The West Coast’s influence courses throughout The Delta Saints’ 2017 full-length album, Monte Vista. Irresistible lead single “California” snaps from a vintage synth swell into a rough-n-tumble guitar riff and bluesy howl. It’s an anthem for throwing caution to the wind, skipping town and setting out to find something more. What better band to get you in the mood for some summer exploring!
If rock and roll isn’t your cup of tea, you may enjoy this Wednesday (6/14) at The Loft Music Venue, where they’ll be hosting Swingin’ with Sweeney! It is with great excitement that The Loft will welcome The Boyd Sweeney Jazz Quartet as their official swing band. Come out and join them for their first monthly live band night. They are so excited to have them and can't wait to celebrate and dance the night away. The theme for the night is bow ties and polka dots. Come dressed in your best swing attire and dance the night away!
Thursday afternoon (6/15) we’ll head back over to the Garden of the Gods Nature Center for their “Gallop in the Garden” 5k Fun Run! It doesn’t get any better than this… Run/ Jog/ Walk in Garden of the Gods Park! Meet in the lower lobby of the Garden of the Gods Nature Center. They've mapped out 5 phenomenal routes through Garden of the Gods and Rock Ledge Ranch that start and end at the Visitor & Nature Center. This is not a race, just a fun run and a way to enjoy comradery and the Great Colorado Outdoors in the #1 Park in the U.S.!
Friday (6/16) will be another great chance to get out and enjoy the sun at Memorial Park here in Colorado Springs, where they’ll be hosting the Pikes Peak Celtic Festival! International bands and performance groups combine with great food, music, and dancing for a weekend filled with authentic Celtic Culture entertainment! From Whiskey and Scotch tasting, to Highland Athletics, to Celtic Fireworks, you’re sure to find something that piques your interest! Named “The Top Spot in America” by NBC’s Today Show, come on out and see why!
I hope you’ve still got some energy left in you this Saturday (6/17) after the long week of fun events in the sun, because we’ll be heading over to the Pikes Peak Center for their presentation of George Lopez and Cedric the Entertainer performing live! Numerous motion picture appearances, countless television shows, sitcoms and standup specials, George Lopez & Cedric the Entertainer have been breaking ground in the comedy business and bringing the laughs for decades. This is a once in a lifetime chance to see two members of comedy royalty come together for the comedy event of the year!
Wrapping up our week of fun summer events with Father’s Day (Sunday, 6/18), we’ll be heading over to the Garden of the Gods Collection Golf Club, where they’ll be hosting a Father’s Day Brews, Blues, and Brunch event! Celebrate Dad and summer at the Father's Day pool party, from 12-2 p.m. Enjoy food from off the grill, drink specials for the whole family and games in the pool!
And as always, don't forget about Front Range Shuttle! From cozy SUV's to 25 passenger buses, we have all your airport transportation needs covered!
