The Month of July

Hello once again Colorado Springs, and welcome to the Front Range Shuttle monthly events blog! It has been a very, very hot, summer so far, so if you're here visiting be sure to hydrate! We've got lots of fun events this month, and a head-ache from dehydration can really ruin your day!

Sunday (7/1) Front Range BBQ will be hosting Wyatt Wear live! Enjoy some great tunes and great eats at this Old Colorado City staple!

Monday (7/2) The Little London Winds will be on stage at the annual Manitou Springs Summer Concert Series! The concert will take place at Soda Springs Park in Manitou Springs. Park your car in the free lot at 10 Old Man’s Trail and take the free shuttle. Bring your own lawn chair, seating is limited. The concert is free and open to the public!

Tuesday (7/3) the Tri-Lakes American Legion Post 911 will be hosting a 3rd of July Barn Dance! They'll have a Ronnie Davis live on stage playing some fantastic country southern rock, so come on out and dance the night away!

Wednesday (7/4) This 4th of July the city of Colorado Springs will be hosting a Summer Symphony at Memorial Park! Get ready for the region’s largest event, amazing food, and thunderous fireworks to light up the night sky! Get there early to claim a prime spot!

Thursday (7/5) Pub Dog Colorado will be hosting their weekly Bingo for a Cause event! Come and play for your chance to win amazing prizes! Fur babies optional. All proceeds benefit The Bear Creek Dog Park.

Friday (7/6) If you happen to miss out on the 4th of July celebration the day of, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Baseball organization will be having Friday Night Fireworks at the game to keep the 4th of July going!

Saturday (7/7) The Stargazers Theatre will be hosting Colorado native Michelle Mandico! Michelle spent the last 2 years writing and recording her debut full-length album, PTARMIGAN, a colorful tribute to her crossing from the Rocky Mountains to Music City.

Sunday (7/8) Johnny's Navajo Hogan will be presenting a Patio Blues Jam hosted by Austin Johnson! Enjoy live music and some of the best fried chicken you've ever tasted!

Monday (7/9) The Black Sheep will be hosting Otep! The band's influences include Black Sabbath, Tool, Deftones, Korn, The Doors, and Slipknot. They've been rocking hard since the turn of the century, you won't want to miss the chance to see them while they're here!

Tuesday (7/10) The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center will be showing the works of some of the most celebrated artists by indigenous and Latina/o artists, Art of the Southwest: 1840s to Present! Within an overall chronological flow, the galleries focus on three periods of time spanning over 150 years: mid-19th century, 1930s, and late 20th century to present.

Wednesday (7/11) The Pikes Peak Center will be hosting award-winning country artist Easton Corbin! He'll be headinglining a star-studded lineup including duo Walker McGuire and Jillian Jacqueline!

Thursday (7/12) Jives Coffee Lounge will be hosting their Irish Music Session Night! A couple hours of the most awesome traditional Irish music with traditional instruments!  Feels like you are in a Dublin pub having an amazing sing along time!

Friday (7/13) The UCCS Heller Center for the Arts & Humanities will be hosting a free Star Watch evening! Drinks and snacks will be served, and you'll get a beautiful view of the Colorado night sky, all explained by amateur astronomer, astrophotographer, and UCCS Systems Librarian Joel Tonyan!

Satuday (7/14) The Manitou Cliff Dwellings Museum will be visited by Colorado Wolf Adventures! Have you ever met a Wolf? Ghost, Spirit and Apache are wonderful wolf ambassadors. Please note, it is $20 for pictures with the wolves and a 45 inch height minimum for children.

Sunday (7/15) The Millibo Art Theatre will be presenting The Big Bubble Circus Ice Cream Theatre! Top off your "Sunday Funday" this summer at the Millibo where they'll treat you to an incredible show followed by Ice Cream Sundaes under their summer tent!

Monday (7/16) The Lone Tree Arts Center will be hosting Mariachi Aztlan and the Ballet Folklorico UTRGV! Mariachi Aztlán sets a standard of excellence among mariachi groups throughout the U.S. as recurring winners of the largest, longest-running and most competitive mariachi group competitions in the world - The Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza!

Tuesday (7/17) The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center will be showing Tom Marioni's gallery: The Act of Drinking Beer with Friends is the Highest Form of Art! In 1970, California-based conceptual artist Tom Marioni invited 16 friends to have a drink with him at the Oakland Museum of California, the museum’s curator provided the beer, and a tradition was born. By 1973, the artist was hosting weekly salons in his studio and staging the still-ongoing participatory and social piece at designated times, presented in various contexts and by museums across the globe.

Wednesday (7/18) Front Range BBQ will be hosting the Grassfed String Band! Grassfed is a quick-picking string band. Pivoting on the foundation of bluegrass, Grassfed entwines tradition with an eclectic array of influences. Forged by songwriters and driven by instrumental conversation, the band brings a punching sound all its own.

Thursday (7/19) The Manitou Springs Summer Concert Series will have Jazz Express on stage! The concert will take place at Soda Springs Park in Manitou Springs. Friday (7/20) The PACE Center will be presenting The Full Monty! In this musical comedy based off the film of the same name, six down-on-their-luck steel workers create their own strip-tease act after seeing their wives enthusiasm for a group of Chippendale’s, and end up reclaiming their lives in the process. This show is for mature audiences only!

Satuday (7/21) The CraftWorks Foundation will be hosting the 12th Annual Springs Beer Fest at the America the Beautiful park! Proceeds from this event will benefit the CraftWorks Foundation's signature programs.

Sunday (7/22) The Pikes Peak International Raceway will be hosting the Pikes Peak Speedway 5k! Participate in a certified 5K at the PPIR where the likes of famous racecar drivers such as Danica Patrick, Jeff Gordon, and Tony Stewart have crossed the finish line. The run will feature official timing and scoring by Hal Sports. Live music, beer and food vendors will be enjoyed after the run around the track!

Monday (7/23) The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center will be showing the works of various artists in the gallery entitled Year of the Dog! Year of the Dog deeply examines the profound human-animal bond, from a cultural obsession with our canine companions, as well as the opposing attitude of disposability and disregard for the very same creatures.

Tuesday (7/24) The Cheyenne Mountain State Park will be hosting Moth Night! Moths are the most diverse and successful organisms on earth. Come join Mile High Bug Club for a fun, all ages, night of sheet lighting. Mile High Bug Club is an educational, conservation organization promoting a better understanding of insects and arachnids in Colorado and beyond.

Wednesday (7/25) Painting with a Twist will be hosting their weekly We <3 Wine Wednesday! Find any class on their calendar on a Wednesday that you like and make sure you sign up! ALL bottles will be half price! So message your friend to coordinate and y'all can split a bottle and go home with a gorgeous painting!

Thursday (7/26) The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo will be hosting their Tails, Tunes & Tastes event! Enjoy an evening under the stars with four stages of live music entertainment, as well as all-inclusive drinks and international cuisine by Taste, the Zoo's onsite caterer. Also enjoy several animal demonstrations, with many animal exhibits open 6 to 8 p.m

Friday (7/27) The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center will be hosting The Pajama Game - A Youth Rep Ensemble Production! The Pajama Game was awarded the 1955 Tony for Best Musical and, over half of a century later, claimed the award for Best Revival of a Musical, proving that the story is truly timeless.

Saturday (7/28) Colorado Wolf Adventures will be visiting the Manitou Cliff Dwellings once again! If you missed your chance to see the wolves on the 14th of July, this will be the day to go! The museum itself makes for a great day, and having the wolves there as well is icing on the cake!

Sunday (7/29) The Broadmoor World Arena Ice Hall will be open to the public for Public Skating! Get out of that blazing Colorado summer heat and cool off on the rink!

Monday (7/30) The Colorado Springs Sky Sox will be hosting the Albuquerque Isotopes at Security Service Field for what should be a great game!

Tuesday (7/31) The Community Partnership for Child Development will holding their Hops on the Bus event hosted by The Carter Payne! This free event starts with you boarding a CPCD/ Head Start school bus at a designated pickup location to be transported to Local Relic at the Carter Payne. Along the way, you will experience the life of a child living in poverty in our community.. Upon arrival, there will be food and beer tastings as well as an opportunity to learn out CPCD’s Henry’s Heroes!
